Whistler RCMP have located a snowboarder who was reported missing yesterday. At about 1:30pm Whistler search and rescue located her in the area of Wedge Mount.

‘We are currently in the process of bringing her out and take her to the medical clinic for examination, ‘ said Sgt. Rob Knapton, operations NCO at the Whistler RCMP, noting that at this time her condition is reported to be good.

Whistler RCMP had received a report of a missing snowboarder on January 23rd at mid-day, although the last time she had been seen was Wednesday morning. RCMP started to investigate and learned her last known location was uploading on the Glacier Express chairlift on Blackcomb Mountain at 11am.

A search was commenced in conjunction with ski patrol and Whistler search and rescue, using this last know location as a starting point. The search continued until nightfall, and recommenced in the morning.

The search resumed in the morning using multiple search teams including search dogs and a helicopter. As the search continued a track was in the backcountry. Searchers followed the trail and at approximately 1:30pm located the missing snowboarder in cold, but good, condition at Wedge Creek.

The missing snowboarder was extricated by helicopter and transported for medical treatment after spending three nights in the backcountry.
